Nexus 6p as my daily driver in 2017

Using my Nexus 6p in 2017 : How does it fair ?

Nexus lineup was the vision of google 6p is one of the best smartphones by google ( the Pixel and Pixel XL still hold the top positions ) . It was one of the best flagships of 2015 , and was my favourite one too.But how does it perform in 2017 ? Is it still worth your attention and money ? Let's find out.

Aesthetics first. The build quality is still one of the best out there , though the camera hump is what most of the people hate. I don't say it looks ugly by any means, but still, it's kinda annoying. But it feels solid in the hand. And that 5.7" Quad hd blows your mind off. Excellent contrast and viewing angles.Certainly in aesthetics,it gives a neck to neck competition to current flagships.

Now,talking about the performance, snapdragon 810 is certainly aged, and power user will certainly feel that. It's even slower than current day up-mid range processors , like snapdragon 653 and the snapdragon 660.But for regular users ,it will still hold the mark. And we can't ignore the stock android and regular updates along with monthly security patches . All combined, I would still prefer this for performance over a lot of smartphones out there.

The phone is great for media consumption too.It has a stereo speaker setup which is great.Speaker output is great, and the sound through the headphone jack is pretty good too. The large 5.7' amoled display comes handy here. It's great for media consumption as well as VR, producing overall great experience.

The cellular call quality is also good, with no problem in cellular reception. The only con it has is that it doesn't support Volte bands in India, and doesn't come with wifi calling either. Here, I must say I am highly disappointed with huawei, considering its younger brother Nexus 5x has all these features. So, for someone using it with jio, experience is not great.Though for others out there,no problem at all.

Now what's most exciting about this phone, the camera. Front camera is a 8 mp Sony IMX 179 f/2.4 sensor and the rear supports 12.3 mp Sony IMX 377 f/2.0 sensor with individual pixel size of 1.55 micron .Its the same setup google used for pixel this year. And the results are mind blowing. It's still in toe with current year flagships.Outdoors , colours are vivid with great contrast that is pleasing to eyes, thanks to the hdr+ mode. And this camera doesn't disappoint you in low light conditions either. The large pixel size and google's algorithm combined produce less noisier and great pictures. There is support for 4k and slo-mo ( 240fps 720p or 120 fps 1080p ).Front camera is great too. It produces some of the better looking photos and is great for selfie lovers out there. Overall, great cameras, definitely worth considering.

And now comes the battery life.It has 3450 mah battery with support of quick charge. I can easily last you for a day.And when it goes down, the supplied fast charger can charge it upto 60% in 30 minutes and full in about 1 hour and 20 minutes. So, you will never feel out of power.

My verdict, if you can get it for 300 $ ( or for Rs 22000 in India ) it's a great device.Whether it is build, display, performance, camera or the battery, it either excels or is good.It 8.5/10 in comparision with the current flagships. For someone who wants a flagship kinda smartphone, but doesn't want to pay the flagship price, it might be a great choice. You can order one for you here .
