The Sharp aquos S2 launched with almost bezel-less design

The Sharp aquos s2 with edge to edge display is now official . The smartphone boasts of impressive ( though  somewhat odd ) design with almost no bezels on the sides except the bottom , and a cut-out on the top for selfie camera , resembling the design of Andy Rubin's Essential Phone as well as recent iPhone leaks . 

The bottom houses a home button with fingerprint sensor embedded in it . The back of aquos s2 is glass with a vertical dual camera setup , similar to leaked iPhone 8 leaks .This is company's 29th smartphone featuring full screen display , and is quite fascinating .


 Sharp aquos s2 comes in two variants , one houses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 , 4 gb ram and 64 gb storage , while the other is has faster Snapdragon 660 , 6 gigs of ram and 128 gigs of onboard storage . Rest of the features are the same for both the smartphones . 

 Both the models sport a 5.5" edge to edge display with a resolution of 1080 x 2040 pixels . Thus , the display comes with a new 17 : 9 ratio . The aquos s2 has a 87.5 percent of screen to body ratio which is based on Sharp's Free Form Display technology . It also boasts of 135 percent sRGB gamut support . And the overall result is just amazing . 

Both the smartphones have expandable storage and have a front facing fingerprint reader . All the sensors are available on both . Both support wi-fi , bluetooth 4.2 , and 4g VoLTE .
The rear houses a dual camera setup with a 12 mp and a 8 mp sensor . The aperture is f/1.75 and the pixel size is large at 1.4 micron . The front is a 8 mp selfie snapper with f/2.0. All this is powered by a 3020 mah battery with fast charging via type-C port . Both run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Sharp's Smile UI on the top .

Coming to pricing , the 4 gb / 64 gb variant with Snapdragon 630 is priced at 2,499 yuan ( about Rs. 25,000 or $ 372 ) while the bigger brother is priced at 3,499 yuan ( around Rs. 35,000 or $ 520 ) . The auos S2 will go on sale in China starting Aug 14 , though there is no word about the international release .
