Lenovo k8 Note : New rival to the Redmis ?

Lenovo earlier today launched new smartphone in its note lineup , the k8 Note , skipping the k7 . It brings with it a lot , specially given the price at which it is launched . It has a good build , dual camera setup , huge battery and now runs on stock android . At this price point , it will be competing with the Redmi Note 4 .

The k8 Note has a compelling metal body and sports a 5.5" fhd IPS lcd display with corning gorilla glass for protection from scratches , though the company didn't mention which gorilla glass they have used . It also has nano coating for protection agains water splashes , similar to the Moto G5 plus . It comes with two ram-storage configurations , 3 gb / 32 gb and 4 gb / 64 gb , and there's also a dedicated slot for micro sd . This means you can insert two sims and a memory card at the same time .

The k8 note houses Helio X23 processor . It is a deca core processor having trio-cluster . There are two quad core sets based on ARM-53 , clocked at 1.4 and 1.8 Ghz , and the last two cores are based on ARM-72 structure , and are clocked to 2.3 Ghz . This is a fairly fast chipset , at least on paper .



The k8 note supports 4g-VoLTE , wifi , bluetooth 4.2 , though there is no NFC . You get all the sensors , including the fingerprint sensor . 

For media , it has support for theater-max and Dolby Atmos also ( though there is a single speaker ) . It also has a dedicated music-key , which you assign to launch other apps also .

The main USP of the device is the dual camera setup at the rear of the device . The main 13 mp camera captures the image , while the other 5 mp sensor provides the depth effect . The front facing camera is a 13 mp sensor with f/2.2 and comes with a flash . There is a pro mode both for the rear and front camera , where you can adjust the ISO level , exposure , white balance , shutter speed etc . 

For software , lenovo has switched to the stock android , leaving behind its vibe UI . It is much cleaner , buttery fluid ; and the Google Assistant is still there . It runs on Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box , and the company has promised to bring android O as well . 

For power consumption , there is a 4000 mah battery with the support of fast charge through the micro usb port . The charger supplied has a rating of 15W . 

Overall , the k8 Note is a powerful contender in the sub 15k segment , and is certainly worth considering at Rs. 12,999 for 3 gb / 32 gb variant and Rs. 13,999 for the 4 / 64 gb . It will be exclusively available at Amazon via sale on 18 Aug at 12 pm . You can buy it here .
