Nokia 8 launched today : Specifications , Price , India Launch and More

Nokia 8 with dual Zeiss Camera launched : And here's everything you need to know

HMD Global, the Finnish start-up looking to reinvigorate the Nokia phone brand, unveiled the Nokia 8 on Wednesday, hoping to cash in on rising consumer demand for high-quality audio and video features.

The Android device, due out in September, will potentially beat rivals on price but will still face fierce competition, with Apple's highly anticipated 10th anniversary iPhone also expected next month and Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 set to hit the market next week. With a suggested price tag of around 599 euros (A$890), the Nokia 8 undercuts Apple, which typically offers a stripped down version of its latest phones for a similar price but charges hundreds of euros more for memory and key features.

The new top-of-the-line Nokia sports a dual-sight video feature which enables simultaneous live-streaming on social media networks from both front and rear cameras on a split screen. It has licensed lens technology from camera maker Zeiss. It is the most high-end phone so far from HMD, which was set up late last year and made a splash in May when it revived Nokia's classic 3310 feature handset in new brightly coloured versions.

Other features of the Nokia 8, which will also compete with Huawei's recently launched P10, include surround-sound audio technology made for Nokia's own virtual reality camera OZO for Hollywood professionals."This is especially meant for millennial creators, people who want to share what's happening every day," HMD chief marketing officer Pekka Rantala said.

HMD products are built by a unit of Foxconn, which acquired the manufacturing and distribution assets of the former Nokia phone business from Microsoft last year.Once the world's dominant phone maker, Nokia Oyj sold its handset operations to Microsoft in 2014, leaving it to focus on telecoms network equipment.

Nokia has finally launched its much anticipated Nokia 8 . " With the Nokia 8 , we wanted to create the ultimate tool to tell our story " HMD said . And the Nokia 8 pretty much says it via its spec sheet . It has got everything you would need , great design , flagship processor , high end dual cameras and a respectable battery . Lets realize the phone in a bit more detail .

In the time when every company out there is boasting of bezel-less displays , Nokia 8 comes with a huge gap left at the bottom and the bottom . It has a 5.3" QHD IPS lcd display with great 700 nits of maximum brightness . 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass resides up front , and the body boasts of 6000 series aluminium . The phone is slim with max thickness of 7.9mm , and it has got the splash proof feature too , with IP54 rating ( Sadly , No IP68 ).

The other great thing about the phone is the camera , or rather cameras ! Nokia 8 features dual 13 mp f/2.0 sensors , one regular RGB sensor and the other , a monochrome sensor to grab details , like the one found in a whole lot of Huawei devices these days . But the pixel size is tad smaller at 1.12 microns . Presence of OIS and laser autofocus is appreciated .

The front is an identical 13 mp f/2.0 sensor with 1.12 micron pixel size and phase detection autofocus . There is a 'bothie' feature with the help of which you can use both the front and rear cameras at the same time for both capturing stills as well as recording videos ( Which seems rather a gimmick ) .

Nokia 8 comes with high dynamic range microphones , which enables it to record 360 degree spatial surround audio , with the help of Nokia Ozo audio algorithms . The binaural audio feature provides the viewers even more immersive experience.

With the latest Snapdragon 835 and 4 gb ram , the user experiment should be great . There is 64 gb of internal storage , which can be expanded via hybrid slot . Nokia says they have used copper pipes and graphite shielding to provide special cooling . This means you can stretch the processor to its limits .

For better calling experience , Nokia has moved the antenna lines to the top and the bottom . Moreover , Nokia says that they are testing Nokia 8 for Android O , and will try to provide the same for Nokia 8 at the earliest , though out of the box Nokia 8 will come with Android 7.1.1 . For connectivity , there is 4g VoLTE , Wi-Fi , bluetooth 5.0 , NFC and a 3.5 mm headphone jack . The phone is powered by a 3090 mah battery , with the support of QC 3.0 via usb 3.1 type-C port . And there are all kinds of sensors you would expect , including the fingerprint sensor .

Nokia 8 will be available globally , including India in early September for EUR 599 ( approximately Rs. 45,000 ) . Colour options available are - Tempered blue , Polished blue , Steel and Polished copper .
